Sea World outside of the complex that is Disney World can be found down near the harbour on the aptly named Sea Harbour Drive. Never happy to do things in a reduced way, here too things are done in multiples so you will noty be surprised to find that Sea World is an interesting group of sea parks but it is definitely not be missed. The Shamu Adventure is centred on the killer whales and before the show there is a film presentation followed by killer whales performing various tricks. The wild artic complex is a whole area dedicated to the artic experience emulating the atmosphere of the artic with artifical ice and snow to place the animals in their "natural" environment. You can enjoy Beluga whales, polar bears and walruses here and fly through a blizzard in a helicopter for simulated stimulation. As with all parks in this orange county, it isn't complete with some ride and here the feature is the Journey to Atlantis. It is a fantastic mixture of roller coaster and water run culminating in a sixty foot drop. The added bonus here is you can pay to drench other tourists. The park does have a large amount of educational value with many displays, penguins with their funny gait waddling over the invented icebergs of the simulate antartic and dolphins playing in their pool and playing tricks on passers by. However, the highlight has to be the tunnel made of glass that affords a really close up view of the killers of the deep, real live jaws. |
