MGM was born from the entrance into adult oriented films by Walt Disney. They decided to create a theme park to entertain adults. The park was opened in 1990 when Disney bought the rights and archives of Metro Goldwyn Mayer and used the characters and scenes to create rides and spectacles. It was also a way to provide competition to the universal studios that opened in the vicinity. To be honest the best part about this park is that it is actually a going concern and the people seen working on scenes and storyboards are really working and making films. Most of the entertainment is obviously visiting sets and seeing shows and watching the process of film making but it would not be a park without some roller coaster ride and so you can satisfy this lust with the Rock and Roller Coaster with the fastest ignition in Walt Disney world or the simulated Star Wars hosted by C3PO and to finish you can frighten the life out of yourself on the haunting Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. The other not to be missed attraction is that Backstage Studio Tour with fantastic special effect. If animation is of interest and perhaps if so far it has not been you will want to see both the Magic of Disney Animation and Jim Henson's Muppet Vision 3D. These provide an enlightening insite into the production world of animation and it is also extremely enjoyable; who doesn't get a giggle from the muppets? Finish it off with the Fantasmic special effects packed animated spectacle where Mickey Mouse fights with figments of his own imagination. |
