Disney added this park to its world in 1998 in answer to the world wide awareness to the plight of the planets animals. The park has a them of conservation with the Disney theme park approach. The park is separated into five zones or lands; Africa, Camp Minnie-Mickey; Dinoland USA, Safari Village and Asia. Each land is created with its own ambience into which the rides and animals are placed. There are four "musts" on the park. First on the list has to be the Kilimanjaro Safaris where visitors are treated to views of African wildlife at close range. The animals on view are giraffes, zebras, elephants, lions and rhinos in an environment that resembles the African outback. From Africa you can then move east into Asia and enjoy the Maharajah Jungle Trek. Here you enjoy a traipse through the thick jungle type vegetation to enjoy birds and possibly even a tiger. Continuing into Dinoland USA you can speed up the adrenalin if the sight of tigers didn't do it for you. Here you can hop on the rollercoaster that is a Countdown to Extinction where dinosaurs pop out as the ride darts in stops and starts through the dark. For the younger of the visitors Camp Minnie-Mickey tops the list with its shows of songs and dances loosely arranged around the theme of the Lion King and Disney characters sign autographs. |
